About Dr. Veronica Johnson

A Little About Me

I was a student for 24 years*, listened to a lifetime of sermons, and attended countless conferences.  All this to say, I’ve developed empathy for the person sitting in a chair receiving a message. I’ve learned that some methods of communication are better than others, humor goes a long way, and nothing (nothing) replaces the need for substantive, interesting material (not even a famous name).

One of the first questions to you (after all the customary pleasantries) will be: “Who will be there?”  I craft my talks with my audience in mind, remembering what concerns they have and how God’s redemption can bring peace and hope.  When someone shows up at your event, be it a weekly church service or an annual conference, it’s an incredible opportunity to talk about the most important things in life. “God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.” (from Romans 4:17)  How might God be giving life and calling into being things that are not in your group’s particular situation?  Isn’t that exciting to think about??

If you are looking for a speaker who will tell you all her great accomplishments and connections, I am not who you want:  I am average in almost every way. (I am a below average driver – apparently, I lack certain spatial skills necessary to do things like drive well and walk through doorways without hitting my hips).  But being average has its benefits – many people relate to my broken parts along with the desire to be more than broken parts. Being average also means I don’t have any magical powers or unrealistic resources (like fake eyelashes or a super clean house) that can allow my listeners to write off what I have to say. “I live in the land of real.”  The land where I get crabby, am energy-limited, and never say the right thing in the right moment.

If you’d like to hire a speaker that connects with audiences, give me a call and let’s chat.  We may be a good fit.

*Yes, I went to school for 12 years after I graduated from high school.  I periodically count it all up again because I cannot believe it’s true.  I don’t even like school.
