  • Let’s talk about sex, baby. Let’s talk about you and me. Let’s talk about all the good things and the bad things that can be. Let’s talk ab-o-o-o-w-w-t sex. Let’s talk about sex.

Salt–n-Pepa are not usually the introduction of a great sermon, but, really – the song has some truth in it. I wish it were a bit more recent than 1990 so I could sound like I’ve listened to the radio in the past 22 years, but alas… I’m not up with the times. I did search the iTunes store for about 4 minutes, which is a good measure of my patience with the www, and didn’t find anything better. Nevertheless, I am going to be talking about sex. Well – sexuality, which as we will talk about, is more than just sex.

If you’re in the Denver area, you should come by. I’ll be giving the morning talks at Pathmakers Church on Sunday mornings in February. We start at 10:10 am (which is fairly respectable, don’t you think?). They serve snacks before the message at about 10:40 (give or take) if you want to get in a few more winks.

Among other things, we’ll talk about scripturally sanctioned sexual fantasy, Jim Gaffagan, God’s redemption, the WNBA, the purpose of having two genders, “other people’s” sexual brokenness, and why you shouldn’t get married to be happy. Not necessarily in that order. I promise to be sober about the topic, but I also appreciate how levity sometimes enables us to hear difficult things.

Note to those who are interested in Pathmakers as a possible church home (which I recommend): If you attend in February, you’ll be getting the B team – sorry. Come back in March to hear a real teacher. In the meantime, though, it should make for some… interesting conversation… somewhere…

Update: The audio from these talks is now available!
